Dr. Carlisle treats patients at two locations: Atlanta Medical Institute and Atlanta Spinal Health.

Atlanta Medical Institute and Atlanta Spinal Health specializes in chiropractic and spinal therapy. The focus of our care is to create proper nervous system function, spinal alignment and management of discomfort/pain. Since the nervous system controls and coordinates every function in the body, this form of therapy is essential for optimizing overall health.

Nerves run from the brain, down the spinal column, and effect various organs throughout the body, including your eyes, ears, lungs, kidneys, skin, and even your heart.

Chiropractic focuses on spinal subluxation, a specific condition that robs the body of normal nerve impulses. What occurs is an abnormal positioning and/or mechanical function of the spine that interferes with the normal functioning of the nervous system.

At Atlanta Medical Institute and Atlanta Spinal Health, we treat each patient individually with a custom plan of action addressing the core issues affecting their health. Chiropractic treatment is a natural form of health care focused on finding the cause, and correcting the problem. We offer ways to make chiropractic care affordable for everyone. We accept most insurance, and we have cash plans as well.

As you enjoy results, you will understand how exploring chiropractic treatment before spending a fortune on physical therapy or even surgery is in your best interest. Get started now on the natural path of healing. Please let us correct the cause instead of treating the symptoms.

    What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the joints in your spine, muscles, nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is a drug free, hands-on approach for pain relieve and promotes optimal healing in your body. Chiropractic is used most often to treat acute and chronic low back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and hip pain.

Chiropractors practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises.

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your nervous system controls the function of virtually every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body. Your nervous system consists of your brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of your body.

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as "spinal manipulation," also called "chiropractic adjustment." The purpose of spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled forced into joints that have become hypomobile--or restricted in their movement--as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Spinal manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. Spinal manipulation usually bring immediate pain relief and can have long lasting effects.

Chiropractic care is so important to your body for many reasons. One main reason why chiropractic care is so important even if you are not in pain is because a chiropractic adjustment stimulates and affects your nervous system.

    Physiotherapy

To assist and enhance the healing process with spinal manipulation, I also provide the following physiological therapeutic procedures to be used on a case by case basis:

    • Ultrasound
    • Interferential electrical muscle stimulation
    • Moist heat therapy
    • Cupping (Jonesboro office)
